Mirjam Jessa

Mirjam Jessa (* 1962 in Carinthia ) is an Austrian journalist and presenter for the radio program Ö1 .

Life

Mirjam Jessa grew up in Salzburg. In 1980 she began studying theater studies , German literature and philosophy at the University of Vienna . From 1981 to 1984 she attended the Mozarteum University of Music and Performing Arts in Salzburg, where she took acting and directing and graduated with a diploma. She had engagements at the Lucerne City Theater and the Braunschweig State Theater .

As a freelance journalist, Jessa worked for various print media such as the weekly Falter and the daily Die Presse .

Mirjam Jessa has been working for ORF radio since 1990 , especially for Ö1 as an editor , designer, presenter and producer in the fields of music, culture, literature, theater, science and education and religion. In 2001 and 2002 she also designed contributions for the program "Treffpunkt Kultur" on ORF television. In the Ö1 she moderates the series “ Playrooms - Music from all directions”, to whose founding team she belonged in 1997, and since 2004 the classical music series “Ö1 bis Zwei”. In 2003 she added “Spielraum spezial”, in which she presents chansons and popular music.

In addition to her work for the ORF, Jessa held a teaching position at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna from 1999 to 2002 .

From 2000 to 2001 she was curator for the concert cycle Fremde Welten of the Jeunesse Musicale , from 2002 to 2004 for the event series New Music in new rooms of the Funder Industry in Sankt Veit an der Glan .

In addition, Mirjam Jessa appears with readings and as a speaker in cultural and music events.
