Mirko Reichel (born December 2, 1970 in Stollberg / Erzgeb. ) Is a former German soccer player and coach.

Player career

Mirko Reichel comes from the youth division of TSG Stollberg . From 1986 he moved to BSG Wismut Aue , for which Reichel went through all the youth teams, and in 1989/90 played five more games in the GDR league . Reichel, who completed an apprenticeship in underground mining, went down with the Ore Mountains in 1990 in his first professional season in the GDR league , but remained loyal to the violets until 1992.

In 1992 Reichel was drafted into the German Armed Forces in Pfreimd , during which time he joined SpVgg Weiden in the Bavarian League . He then returned to Aue for one season, hired from 1994 for three years at second division SV Waldhof Mannheim , where he was able to establish himself as a regular player. The result was a move to the Bundesliga for VfL Bochum . Under coach Klaus Toppmöller , the Saxon was only used sporadically, after only one first division season he moved back to SpVgg Greuther Fürth in the second division. Reichel was an integral part of the club at the Ronhof for many years, and after several unsuccessful attempts he was unable to return to the Bundesliga. From 2005 to 2007 he let his career end in the second team of Greuther Fürth, where he also acted as assistant coach.

Coaching career

Mirko Reichel then trained Greuther Fürth's U17 team for the 2007/08 season. From January to April 2008 he worked alongside Roland Seitz as an assistant coach at FC Erzgebirge Aue. Since the 2008/09 season he was again assistant coach at SpVgg Greuther Fürth for the next five years , initially at the side of Benno Möhlmann , later next to Mike Büskens . On the side of Mike Büskens he succeeded with the Fürth 2012 promotion to the Bundesliga . On February 20, 2013, Reichel was on leave together with Büskens. At this time, the promoted team was in last place in the table with 12 points after 22 games.

On April 29, 2013 he was appointed as assistant coach to Falko Götz at FC Erzgebirge Aue. After the successful relegation in June 2013, he asked the club to terminate the contract in order to take a break.

At the beginning of the 2014/15 season, Reichel took over as coach of the U23 team from Greuther Fürth. After Frank Kramer was dismissed as coach on February 23, 2015 and Mike Büskens was hired again, Mirko Reichel also returned to the professional team's bench as assistant coach. For the 2015/16 season he took over the sporting management of the junior performance center in Fürth as well as the coaching position of the U17s.
