Misilyah ( Arabic مسلية) is a Palestinian village in the northern West Bank , 14 kilometers south of the city of Jenin . According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the village had a population of 2,252 in mid-2006. Misilya's main agricultural products are olives, grapes, figs and vegetables. Roman , Byzantine , Egyptian and Islamic ruins have been found in the village .

history

Ottoman era (1517-1920)

In 1870 Victor Guérin wrote : "Misilyah sits on the northern slopes of a hill, which is planted with magnificent olive trees, at the bottom of which is a fertile and well-manicured plain."

In 1882, the Palestine Exploration Fund 's Survey of Western Palestine described Meselieh : "A small village with a detached part to the north and on a slope, with a hill to the south surrounded by beautiful olive groves, with an open valley called Wady El Melek ('the Königstal') on the northern side. The water supply is ensured by cisterns , many of which were built some time ago. They are mainly supplied with rainwater. "

British era (1920-1948)

According to the 1922 census carried out by the British Mandate Government, Meselayyeh had a population of 190. According to the 1931 census, the number increased to 222 inhabitants in 49 houses within nine years.

In 1945 the number increased to 330 inhabitants. The total arable area was 9,038  dunams . 2,683 dunams were used for growing trees, while 2,592 dunams were used for growing grain, 23 dunams were used for building houses.

Jordanian Era (1948-1967)

As a result of the Palestine War in 1948, Misilyah was ruled by Jordan .

After 1967

After the Six Day War , Misilyah came under Israeli occupation.
