Rose White, who lived in the United States shortly after World War II, hides her past from those around her. She and her father fled Poland shortly before the war ; her mother and sister Lusia stayed behind. The woman changed her Jewish first name Rayzel to Rose .
One day Rose learns that Lusia is alive. Lusia comes to the USA, where her sister takes care of her. Lusia suffers from memories of the Nazi concentration camps .
