The Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity ( Latin : Congregatio Missionariorum Servorum Sanctissimae Trinitatis , en . : Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity , order abbreviation : MSSST or ST ) are a clerical congregation under papal law . The congregation was founded in 1928 by Father Thomas Augustine Judge CM (1868–1933).

History and self-image

In 1916, Father Judge founded a new Vincentian convent in Opelika, Alabama . Together with some confreres and lay people , he set up a working group. Together they had set themselves the task of supporting the priests in their work, while at the same time taking care of the immigrant groups . The friars opened a school and set up an infirmary. They lived, worked and prayed together and a fraternal community developed. On January 22, 1921, the religious community received episcopal approval from Bishop Edward Allen . Allen's successor, Bishop Thomas Toolen , promoted the work of the community and supported its goals. On April 24, 1958, the Congregation received the Decretum laudis from Pope Pius XII. while recognizing the rules of the order .

The "Servants of the Most Holy Trinity", as they were now called, have made it their business to put into practice the social encyclics of the Popes. That is why they see themselves as “servants” and “defenders” of religion . In particular, they campaign against anti-Catholic movements and sects and pursue an intensified mission .
