Mitchell Frear (born September 12, 1993 in Queenstown ) is a New Zealand ice hockey player who has played again at the Southern Stampede in the New Zealand Ice Hockey League since 2015 .

Career

Mitchell Frear began his career with Southern Stampede . For the team from his hometown Queenstown he made his debut in 2008 in the New Zealand Ice Hockey League . After he was New Zealand runners-up three times (2009, 2011 and 2012) with Stampede, he moved to league rivals Dunedin Thunder , for whom he completed two seasons. In 2015 he returned to Queenstown for the Southern Stampede and immediately became New Zealand champions with the club.

International

In the junior division, Frear played for New Zealand at the U18 World Championships in 2009 in Division III and in 2011 , when he was named best player of his team, in Division II and at the U20 World Championships in 2012 , when he was again voted best New Zealand player , and 2013 in Division III. 2011, 2012 and 2013 was each team captain of the New Zealand selection.

The defender made his debut in the men's national team at the 2014 World Cup in Division II. In 2015 and 2016 he also played with the New Zealanders in Division II.
