The Mittlere Maurerkeeskopf ( 3283  m above sea level ) is a mountain peak of the Tauern main ridge in the Venediger Group on the state border between Tyrol ( Lienz district ) and Salzburg ( Zell am See district ) or on the municipality border between Prägraten am Großvenediger and Neukirchen am Großvenediger . The first ascent is not recorded, the second ascent was made by Ludwig Purtscheller with J. Grill senior. made on July 20, 1881 as a ridge crossing from the Hinterer Maurerkeeskopf .

location

The Mittlere Maurerkeeskopf lies between the Vorderen Maurerkeeskopf ( 3325  m above sea level ) in the southwest and the Rear Maurerkeeskopf ( 3311  m above sea level ) in the northeast on the so-called Maurerkeeskopfgrat. To the main summit (north-east summit) of the Middle Maurerkeeskopf, the Maurerkees extends to the summit ridge in the east, at the southwest summit ( 3215  m above sea level ) the Maurerkees meet with the Krimmler Kees to the west. To the east of the Mittleren Maurerkeeskopf lies the Maurertal, to the northwest the Krimmler Achental .

Promotion opportunities

The Mittlere Maurerkeeskopf is a little-visited single destination, which is usually climbed from the Hinteren Maurerkeeskopf when crossing the Maurerkeeskopfgrat. From the Essener-Rostocker Hütte, first follow the marked path along the Maurerbach and then climb over the glaciated south-east flank to the Hinteren Maurerkeeskopf ( II ). This is followed by the transition to the Mittleren Maurerkeeskopf along the Firnsattel ( II ). The normal route to the Mittleren Maurerkeeskopf runs from the Warnsdorfer Hütte over the west ridge ( II ) to the south-east summit and then on the Firngrat to the main summit.
