Mohammed Sylla (also known as Momo Sylla, born March 13, 1977 in Bouaké , Ivory Coast ) is a former Guinean football player .
Career
society
Mohammed Sylla was born in 1977 as the youngest of six children in Bouaké , a city in the Ivory Coast . At the age of ten he moved with his family to the French capital Paris. Sylla began his professional football career in 1995 with the US Créteil , a suburb of the megacity. After one season he moved to the second team of Le Havre AC , for which he played from 1996 to 1999. This time was interrupted by a loan to Olympique Noisy-le-Sec in the 1997/98 season. After his return to Le Havre , the midfielder made seven appearances in the first team. In the 1999/2000 season he was under contract with Le Mans FC before Sylla moved to Scotland for FC St. Johnstone . At the Saints from Perth he became a regular in Sandy Clark's team and completed 35 of a possible 38 league games, scoring five goals. In August, Sylla moved to league rivals Celtic Glasgow for a transfer fee of £ 650,000 . He made his debut against his old club St. Johnstone in the league game of the Scottish Premier League on July 28, 2001. During his time in Glasgow, he won the Scottish Championship and the Scottish Cup twice . From 2005 to 2007, Sylla was under contract with Leicester City in England before retiring from Kilmarnock FC in 2007 .
National team
Born in the Ivory Coast, Mohammed Sylla played a total of 21 international matches for the Guinean national soccer team from 1999 to 2007 . With the country selection from Guinea, he took part in the 2006 African Cup of Nations in Egypt . Under the French national coach Patrice Neveu Sylla came to a use in the preliminary round against Zambia . The team from West Africa reached the quarter-finals at the African Championship.
