The Momhil Sar is a 7343 m high mountain in Hispar Muztagh , a part of the Karakorum -Hauptkamms in Pakistan .
location
The Hispar Muztagh is the second westernmost chain of the Karakoram main ridge and borders on the Hunza Valley in the west . From there, the chain in Lupghar Sar reaches an altitude of over 7000 m for the first time . Momhil Sar lies south of Lupghar Sar. The main ridge runs over the north ridge to the summit and leads down the south-east ridge to a saddle that connects it with its eastern neighbor, the 7577 m high Trivor . The southwest ridge of the Momhil Sar leads down to the Gharesa glacier, which is also known as the "Trivor glacier". This glacier feeds in a basin between the southwest ridge, south wall and southeast ridge of Momhil Sar and the northwest ridge, west wall and southwest ridge of the Trivor. It flows westwards, its outlet flows into the Hispar at Nagar . To the west of the Momhil Sar southwest ridge, the Gharesa glacier is fed by an unnamed glacier, which has its nutrient area between the west face of Momhil Sar and the south side of Lupghar Sar. The northeast side of Momhil Sar feeds the Momhil Glacier , which also carries the snow masses from the north side of the Trivor and the west side of Distaghil Sar , the highest mountain of Hispar Muztagh, north to the Shimshal valley .
Ascent history
The only ascent to date was achieved by a Styrian team consisting of Hanns Schell , Rudolph Pischinger , Horst Schindelbacher , Leo Schlömmer and Rudolf Widerhofer , who climbed the Gharesa Glacier to the connecting ridge between Trivor and Momhil Sar in June 1964, where they set up their third high camp. Until then, their route corresponded to that of the first to climb the Trivor four years earlier. After they initially failed to climb the southeast ridge, they returned to camp 3 a few days later, but now crossed the southeast face of Momhil Sar and finally reached the summit via the south ridge after about sixteen hours.
