Mona Elwassimy (born February 7, 1990 in Munich ) is a German volleyball player .

Career

Mona Elwassimy started her volleyball career at TS Jahn Munich. Her first trainer was her mother. Together with Kristin and Kathrin Standhardinger she reached third place at the national game festival 2002 of the E-Jugend. The Munich club was able to repeat this success in the following year at the German D youth championships in Nordhorn . The students achieved their third Bavarian championship title in a row in 2004 as a C-youth, and came eighth at the national championships.
Since the beginning of the 2003/04 season, Elwassimy has been playing in parallel with the adults in the second women's team of SV Lohhof in the Bayernliga. In the following game year, the native of Munich was part of the squad of the first women's team to be promoted to the second division south . In 2005/06, after only two defeats , the Unterschleißheim team became champions in the second division, but for financial reasons they waived promotion. In the next game year Elwassimy won the second division runner-up with SVL, at the end of the season she was bronze in the German U-21 championships, and in the U-18s she was even runner-up.

After finishing fourth in the second Bundesliga South in the 2007/08 season, Elwassimy moved to Allianz Volley Stuttgart , where she and Katharina Stauß replaced record national player Renate Riek-Bauer . While both players were used about the same number of times in the 2008/09 season, Elwassimy received significantly more game shares in the following year. In January 2010 she was elected to the Allstart Team South, but for school reasons she decided not to work.

In the 2010/11 season she was initially not in the starting line-up of the Swabian team. The first setter was the newly signed Anna Nowakowska . After her injury, Mona Elwassimy was used as the only player in the last three league games of 2010 and in the cup semi-finals against Dresdner SC . The Stuttgart women were able to make all four games victorious. Her greatest success so far was on March 6, 2011, when she and her club Allianz Volley won the German cup final against VfB 91 Suhl 3-0. In the summer of 2011 she returned to Bavaria for league rivals Rote Raben Vilsbiburg . In the 2012/13 season Elwassimy decided to take a career break in favor of vocational training. In 2013/14 she played again in the Second League South with the Allgäu Team Sonthofen . For the 2014/15 season she moved to the first division club Köpenicker SC . In 2015 Elwassimy returned to the Rote Raben in Vilsbiburg, where she is now also the team leader.
