Monanthes icterica is a species of plant from the genus Monanthes in the family of thick-leaf plants (Crassulaceae). The specific epithet icterica comes from Latin , means 'yellowish as ifsuffering from jaundice ' and refers to the yellowish green color of the plant.

Vegetative characteristics

Monanthes icterica is a dwarf, bare, simple or more or less horizontally branched annual , herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 2 to 6 centimeters. The alternately arranged, elliptical or obovate leaves are more or less clustered near the shoot tips . Your leaf blade is 5 to 9 millimeters long and 2 to 4 millimeters wide. The tip of the blade is rounded. Their surface is bare or slightly papillary .

Inflorescences and flowers

The terminal inflorescence is regularly branched. The six to seven-fold flowers are on the glandular-hairy pedicels 2 to 5 millimeters long and reach a diameter of 3 to 4 millimeters. Their narrow, elongated petals , occasionally widening towards the tip, are 1.9 to 2.6 millimeters long and 0.6 to 0.9 millimeters wide. They are pointed or spiky. Distribution and systematics

The first description as Petrophyes icterica by Carl August Bolle was published in 1859. Konrad Hermann Heinrich Christ placed the species in the genus Monanthes in 1888 . Aichryson mollii Pit is a synonym . (1909).
