Stephen Edward Blaire (born December 22, 1941 in Los Angeles , California - † June 18, 2019 in Modesto , California) was an American clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Stockton .

The Archbishop of Los Angeles , James Francis Aloysius Cardinal McIntyre , ordained him a priest on April 29, 1967 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Los Angeles and titular bishop of Lamzella on February 17, 1990 . The Archbishop of Los Angeles, Roger Michael Mahony , donated him episcopal ordination on May 31 of the same year ; Co-consecrators were the auxiliary bishops in Los Angeles John James Ward and George Patrick Ziemann .

He was named Bishop of Stockton on January 18, 1999, and ordained in office on March 16 of that year.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on January 23, 2018.
