The Monastyrschtschinski rajon ( Russian Монастырщинский район ) is a Rajon in the Smolensk Oblast in Russia . It is located in the very southwest of the oblast. 11,000 inhabitants (2010) live in an area of ​​1514 km². The administrative center of the Rajons is Monastyrshchina , an urban-type settlement with about 3900 inhabitants (2010).
