The Moncton Stadium ( French Stade Moncton ) is a football stadium with an athletics facility in the Canadian city of Moncton in the province of New Brunswick . The main sports at the stadium are track and field , Canadian football, and soccer .
history
The stadium was built between 2008 and 2010 on the campus of the Université de Moncton and cost around CAD 17 million . The stadium is owned by the Université de Moncton and the City of Moncton. The facility has 10,000 seats. The capacity can be roughly doubled to 20,725 with additional stands.
In July 2010, the Canadian Junior Championships and later the Junior World Championships in Athletics were held in Moncton. In September 2010 and September 2011, two season games of the Canadian Football League were held in Moncton as part of the Touchdown Atlantic . In 2010 the Toronto Argonauts met the Edmonton Eskimos , a year later the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Calgary Stampeders faced each other.
The Canadian national football team played a friendly match against China in Moncton on May 30, 2012 , which they won 1-0. Moncton Stadium was one of the venues for the 2014 U-20 Women's World Cup and was also used for the 2015 Women's World Cup .
