Monika Lelgemann

Monika Lelgemann (* 1959 in Hanover ) is a German anesthesiologist , health scientist and clinical epidemiologist . She is considered a pioneer of evidence-based medicine in Germany.

Monika Lelgemann studied medicine in Marburg and Göttingen from 1978 to 1985. She then worked as a doctor in the fields of anesthesia , internal medicine and clinical pharmacology until 2001 .

From 2001 to 2003 Monika Lelgemann was a research assistant at the German Cochrane Center at the Freiburg University Medical Center . During the same period, she completed her studies in clinical epidemiology at the Erasmus University Rotterdam with a MSc in clinical epidemiology .

From 2004 to 2006 Monika Lelgemann was Head of Evidence-Based Medicine and Guidelines at the Medical Center for Quality in Medicine , then until 2010 Scientific Director of the Interdisciplinary HTA Center at the University of Bremen . In 2009 she was at the Medical Faculty of the University of Cologne to Dr. med. PhD.

From 2010 to 2014 Monika Lelgemann was Head of Evidence-Based Medicine at the Medical Service of the National Association of Health Insurance Funds. V. (MDS), Essen. In this role she was responsible for the development of the IGeL-Monitor, an evaluation and transparency program for individual health services (IGeL).

From March 2011 to March 2013 she was the first chairwoman of the German Network of Evidence-Based Medicine (DNEbM).

From 2014 to 2018 Monika Lelgemann worked as a doctor at the Bremen Health Department, from March 2015 to December 2016 as acting head of department.

In 2017 she was elected an impartial member of the Federal Joint Committee . Monika Lelgemann took office on July 1, 2018.
