Main topics

In accordance with the basic principles of surgical research, which focuses on the surgically treatable disease and the problem of the surgeon and his direct partners, three areas that cannot be clearly distinguished are distinguished:

  • basic research
  • the disease-oriented, experimental research
  • patient-oriented clinical research

In the main areas of his scientific work, these areas are usually closely linked. They are presented in brief in the following:

  1. Epidemiology, pathogenesis, therapy and outcome of neuro- / polytrauma
  2. Sepsis and intensive care medicine
  3. Endoscopic surgery
  4. Acute perioperative pain
  5. Clinimetry / Evidence-Based Surgery
