Monika Thamm

Monika Hanna Thamm (born May 25, 1944 in Berlin ) is a German former politician ( CDU ). She was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives from 2006 to 2016 .

Life and study

Monika Thamm grew up in Berlin-Schöneberg and studied after obtaining the baccalaureate through the second-chance education business administration , economics , business education and English language and literature at the Free University of Berlin and in England . She graduated with a diploma in 1973 , the first state examination in 1975 and the second state examination in 1977 as a business teacher . From 1977 until her retirement in 2005, she worked as a qualified commercial teacher and school principal at vocational schools.

Monika Thamm joined the CDU in 1993 and held numerous offices within the party, including in the Women's Union . Since 2008 she has been deputy state chairwoman of the Women's Union Berlin.

From 1997 to October 2006 she was a member of the district assembly in Schöneberg (from 2001 in the merged Tempelhof-Schöneberg district ) and spokeswoman for youth policy for the parliamentary group as well as a member of the playground commission.

In the elections to the Berlin House of Representatives in 2006 and 2011 , she was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives via the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district list. There she was a member of the main committee, the committee for home affairs, security and order, the petitions committee and the committee for sport as well as the district subcommittee. In 2016, she left parliament, but is the first successor on the CDU Tempelhof-Schöneberg district list.

Thamm had 1 August 2019 in the European Parliament elected Hildegard Bentele could move into the House of Representatives, but waived for personal reasons on the acceptance of the mandate.
