Ampelographic varietal characteristics

In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:

  • The shoot tip is open. It is hairy with white wool and of a white-greenish color. The young leaves are hairy like a cobweb and colored pale green on the underside of the leaf.
  • The medium-sized to large leaves are five-lobed and strongly curved. The stalk bay is narrowly opened or almost closed in a lyre-shaped manner. The blade is unevenly sawn. The underside of the leaf is almost hairless
  • The cylindrical grape is large and dense. The round berries are medium to large in size and yellow in color. The yellow berries have maroon stripes.

Montonico Bianco ripens almost 40 days after the Gutedel . It is therefore considered to ripen very late. The vigorous variety produces consistently high yields.

It is less susceptible to powdery mildew and downy mildew . However, due to its density of berries, it tends to rot in wet years .
