The forum is one of the signatories of the alliance for fair publishers ( Fairlag ), to which around 50 German, Swiss and Austrian authors' associations and institutions belong. It also works closely with the Association of German Writers (VS in ver.di) and the Federal Association of Young Authors eV

discussion

All questions related to the concerns of authors are discussed in the forum. This includes drafting contracts and searching for a publisher as well as technical questions about writing, be it about the narrative perspective , the choice of words , the plot or the design of the characters . There is a separate section for reviews of current and classic novels . Another rubric, which is only open to members, is dedicated to the criticism and discussion of one's own texts, research and working groups. In addition to the exchange between established authors in partially closed areas, the forum sees it as a special task to inform and educate authors who are still inexperienced and who have not yet been published.

In April 2015, the forum comprised around 320,000 contributions, which corresponds to a total text volume of around 50,000 standard pages . Most of the contributions are also available to non-members, but some are only available to members, especially those who need confidentiality. The forum is aimed primarily at advanced and published authors. For membership, an application for membership is required, which is voted on by a committee.

Real meetings

Since autumn 2007, annual nationwide member meetings have been held in Oberursel near Frankfurt with lectures and workshops . There are regional, irregular meetings in Cologne , Vienna , Mannheim , Hamburg , Berlin and other cities.
