Mooshausen is still in the Allgäu between Leutkirch im Allgäu and Memmingen at the origin of the Illerkanal near the confluence of the Aitrach river into the Iller .

Mooshausen achieved national fame through the many years of work of Josef Weiger and Romano Guardini in Mooshausen and through the artist Maria Elisabeth Stapp , who lived in Mooshausen.
