The Lie Behind the Truth is a German television film directed by Peter Sämann based on a script by Rolf-René Schneider from 2011 . It is the seventh episode of the crime series Murder in the best company with Fritz Wepper as the psychiatrist Wendelin Winter in the lead role.

Psychiatrist Dr. Wendelin Winter's daughter Alexandra is now moving to Berlin to work as a capital correspondent. Wendelin follows her, because his old school friend Walter Königstein has made him an offer to hire Gerhard Becker as an advisor to the politician. When the attractive press officer Tanja Richter died in a car accident, it turned out that she was four months pregnant. Both his school friend Königstein and the politician Becker had a mess with the dead woman.
