Andrea Eckert (born September 17, 1958 in Baden , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian actress , singer and documentary filmmaker .

Life

Eckert first studied literature in Paris before deciding on an acting career. From 1978 to 1981 she completed an acting training with Dorothea Neff and Eva Zilcher . Between 1982 and 1986 she played at the Burgtheater in Vienna, at the Landestheater Linz , at the Bad Hersfeld Festival , in the Ensemble Theater and in the Schauspielhaus in Vienna, as well as in solo programs. She made documentaries a. a. about Walter Schmidinger , Eric Pleskow and Josefine Hawelka .

From her engagement at the Volkstheater in Vienna , her roles as Clara in Weininger's Night (1988), Judith von Friedrich Hebbel , Maria Stuart and Elektra should be mentioned. Eckert was awarded the Karl Skraup Prize for this in 1991/1992 . In 1997 she received the Kainz Medal for her role as Maria Callas in the play Meisterklasse .

In September 2011 Eckert performed her acting teacher Dorothea Neff at the Vienna Volkstheater . The play You stay with me , written by Felix Mitterer for this house, is about Neff's decision to keep her Jewish friend Lilli Wolff with her during the Second World War before the Nazi persecution to hide in the apartment.

Since September 2012 she has been playing the Diseuse Greta Keller in a one-woman show at the Vienna Volkstheater in Bon Voyage .

Eckert has been artistic director of the Raimundspiele Gutenstein since December 2015 .

Eckert is the great-granddaughter of the writer Anna von Sazenhofen .
