Moritz Ludwig I. Imperial Count of Nassau-LaLecq (* 1631 ; † April 23, 1683 ) was Lord of Lek ( de la Lecq , de LaLecq ) and Beverweerd .

Life

Moritz Ludwig (ndl. Maurits Lodewijk ) was the son of Ludwig von Nassau-Beverweerd and Isabella Countess von Hornes. He studied in Leiden and later got to know Lady Anne Hyde , who had been Maria Henrietta Stuart's lady-in-waiting in The Hague from 1654 . Despite all expectations, the couple did not get married, as Anne Hyde suddenly married the future King James II in 1660 .

LaLecq became Rittmeister, 1665 Major, 1666 Colonel of the Cavalry and 1669 Governor of the Sluis Fortress . In 1674 he took part as brigadier general in the battle of Seneffe , where he was injured. In 1679 he was raised to the rank of imperial count by Emperor Leopold I.

progeny

Moritz Ludwig married the Catholic Anna Isabella von Bayern von Schagen (1636–1716) from a Dutch bastard line of the House of Wittelsbach in 1669 . The son Moritz Ludwig II emerged from the marriage.
