Morne is an American metal band from Boston , Massachusetts that formed in 2005.

history

The band was founded in 2005 by singer and guitarist Milosz Gassan. In 2007, bassist Max Furst and drummer Kevin Adams joined the cast. After a few months, the band went into the studio to record their first demo. In the summer of 2008, Jeff Hayward joined the line-up as a further guitarist before the band went back to the studio to record songs for a split release with Warprayer. After a few concerts and further rehearsals, the band went back to the studio, whereupon the debut album Untold Wait was released in 2009 . Kris Force and Alicia Morgan could also be heard as guest musicians on the recording. Before the album was released, drummer Adams had left the band and was replaced by Erik Larson for the first European tour in summer 2009. In September 2010, Billy Knockenhauer joined the cast as a permanent drummer. Ian Shultz also joined the cast as keyboardist. In 2011 the second album Asylum followed . The third album Shadows followed in 2013 .

style

According to Thomas Sonder from Metal Hammer , the band played depressive and heavy Doom Metal. The singing is said to have "a vocal roughness as it was once propagated by Gigandhi , but not quite as brutal as we know it from the early Neurosis ".

According to Gassan, the band tried to make Shadows sound simpler than their predecessor Asylum by using less keyboard and more catchy guitar riffs . According to Max Furst, the band Amebix is the band's main influence; He mentions Motörhead , Metallica , Iron Maiden , Black Sabbath , Slayer , Antisect , Discharge and Sacrilege as further influences . Gessab named, next to Amebix and Sacrilege, Misery , New Model Army and New Order as his main influences. Wolf-Rüdiger Mühlmann from Rock Hard described the music as a mixture of death metal, post-rock, crustcore and sludge. Guitar riffs on Shadows would also be reminiscent of Bolt Thrower .
