course

The Morobbia rises in the Buco di Giumello at about 1850  m above sea level. M. below the Cima Pomodoro and a little west of the border with Italy .

It initially flows through the densely wooded valley of Buco di Giumello in a northerly direction, before a short spring stream from the Bocchetta di Albano joins from the right . It turns briefly to the west and falls down a valley step, entering the La Valletta valley at Alpe Valletta . The Morobbia turns to the northwest and at the same time takes on another short source stream from the left. After he has left the alp behind, dense forests follow the course of the river, which, with very few exceptions, cover the entire valley. It passes the Cascina Nova on the right bank , before the Cima di Cugn joins from the right , which rises at the San Jorio Pass . Here the valley of La Valletta joins that of the Cima di Cugn to form the Valle Morobbia.

It continues to flow westwards past the settlement of Monti di Ruscada with partly abandoned stone houses, where there is a footbridge of a hiking trail. Shortly afterwards the water from the Valle del Canaa flows from the left and that from the Valle di Ruscada from the right . The heavily forested valley becomes narrower and deeper, which means that no settlements or Alps can be found on the shore. He passes the Fontana Marcia settlement high above the valley before, shortly after the confluence of the Prada, from the right he reaches the village of Carena , which is also on the right bank above the valley.

The Morobbia now flows to the left of the stream from the Val di Poltrinetto and to the right that from the Valle di Melera before it passes the villages of Melera and Melirolo , which are around 230 meters higher . Approximately at the level of Melirolo it flows into the Lago di Carmena reservoir , into which the Melirolo brook flows. The dam is just before Carmena , which he passes immediately afterwards. It takes up the Valmaggina from the left and flows past the village of Vellano .

It follows the mouth of the Verona stream from the left and the village of Pianezzo, after which the Morobbia enters the Magadino plain a little later. It flows between the merged villages of Camorino and Giubiasco, taking in the Riale Grande from the left . Finally the Morobbia flows out at 212  m above sea level. M. right next to a motorway bridge of the A2 from the left into Ticino.
