Moshe Kol ( Hebrew מֹשֶׁה קוֹל, as Moshe Kolodny in Hebrew מֹשֶׁה קוֹלוֹדְנִי, * May 28, 1911 in Pinsk , Russian Empire ; † July 7, 1989 in Israel ) was an Israeli politician who was both Tourism Minister (January 12, 1966 - June 20, 1977) and Minister for Development (January 12, 1966 - December 15, 1969).

Life

He attended a cheder and a Jewish secondary school in Pinsk . As a Zionist activist, he was one of the founders of the Polish-Jewish youth movement HaOwed HaZioni ( Hebrew העובד הציוני, lit. The Zionist Working People ).

In 1932 he immigrated to Palestine . On May 15, 1948, he was one of the signatories of the Israeli Declaration of Independence and became a member of the Provisional State Council . He was also one of the founders of Miflaga Progresivit .

He became a member of the Knesset in July 1951, but resigned six weeks later. After the elections in 1959 he was again a member of the Knesset and shortly thereafter became a member of the Miflaga Liberalit Jisra'elit party , which came about as an amalgamation of the Miflaga Progresivit and the general Zionists .

In the elections in 1961 he retained his seat. However, when a party merger with Menachem Begin 's Cherut was imminent, he and other party members separated from the Miflaga Liberalit Jisra'elit in order to found the Libralim Atzma'im . After the 1965 elections, he was appointed Minister of Tourism and Development on January 12, 1966 as a member of the Libralim Atzma'im . After the 1969 and 1973 elections, he was again Minister for Tourism. When only one seat remained after the party's elections, he lost his ministerial post on June 20, 1977. After leaving the Knesset, he published publications on Israeli society and its foreign affairs.
