history

The Moserwirt already existed in 1507, as it says in an inscription above the windows of the upper floor on Thumseestrasse: "According to the chronicle in 1507, this house was named the Zollhauß tavern and was very much used by Bothenvohrwerke for refreshments".

On January 6, 1796, around noon, a train of six six-in-hand, one four-in-hand and one three-horse carriage arrived in Karlstein near Moserwirt, where the horses were exchanged. It was about Princess Marie Thérèse Charlotte de Bourbon , who was the only surviving child of Louis XVI. and Marie-Antoinette was on her way into exile in Vienna. The features of this sublime princess were beautiful and gentle; true royal highness and the noblest prince's heart shone from every blike, wrote the “Münchner Zeitungs = Blatt” a few days later. Mathias Moll, a baker from Reichenhall said he had the royal. Princess was offered a small travel gift with some pieces of exquisite apples of the best [...] kind with a somewhat shy but aweful lecture in French . He also stated that years ago , when he stayed in Paris for several years, he received the high royal. To get to know family had the grace. The lofty philanthropist deigned from this old Biedermanne with the most gracious utterance to graciously accept this small but loyal gift, at which the good old man, moved with the greatest delight, stepped back from the carriage with tears of joy.

Like the Gasthof Kaitl , the Moserwirt was a popular rest stop on the many trips of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his family and the Moserwirt was also mentioned in the history books during the Tyrolean popular uprising .
