Mosken is an uninhabited mountain island in the Lofoten archipelago . It is administratively administered by the island municipality of Værøy in Fylke Nordland , Norway .
The small island is located almost exactly in the middle between the Lofot Islands Moskenesøy and Værøy in the infamous Moskenstraumen , one of the world's strongest ocean currents with a tidal current of 25 km / h, also known as the maelstrom .
Former use
In the past centuries, sheep were kept all year round on Mosken because of the warm Gulf Stream . The dilapidated Rorbu in the dialed settlement "Svarven" on Mosken also tell of the successful Köhler fishing days gone by.
Arctic bird life
The archipelago and rocky islands surrounding the mosques are combined in a species-rich nature reserve for sea birds. Among other things, reflect shags , guillemots , wave runners , petrel , eider and Teiste resist the variety.
