Mount Bonaparte is a mountain with a height of 3430 m in the Queen Elizabeth Range in the Transantarctic Mountains , which is about 6.5 kilometers south of Mount Lecointe . West of Mount Bonaparte is the Bartrum Plateau , an icy, 18 km long and 10 km wide plateau .
The mountain was discovered by participants in the Nimrod expedition (1907-1909) under Ernest Shackleton . It is named after the French scientist Roland Bonaparte (1858–1924), then president of the Société de Géographie .
