The Mount Edgecumbe is a 975 m high stratovolcano on kruzof Iceland in the Alexander Archipelago in southeastern Alaska .
The volcano rises 25 km west of Sitka on the west coast of Kruzof Island. It forms the highest point on the island. The volcano is located on the North American Plate 10–15 km from the Queen Charlotte Fairweather Transform Fault. The volcano is part of a volcanic field, which also includes the neighboring craters Crater Ridge and Shell Mountain . Probably the last volcanic activity were phreatomagmatic explosions during the middle Holocene .
The mountain was named after James Cook in 1778. In July 1805, Juri Fjodorowitsch Lisjanski managed the first documented ascent of the mountain.
