Mount Hook is a 1605 m high, snow-covered and mountain-like elevation in the West Antarctic Queen Elizabeth Land . In the Forrestal Range of the Pensacola Mountains, it rises 8 km southeast of Sorna Bluff on the east side of the Saratoga Table .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the mountain in 1979 after Lieutenant Richard M. Hook of the US Navy, who was a medical officer at Ellsworth Station in the Antarctic winter of 1969 .
