Movie4k.to is a website that allows visitors to watch movies for free via streaming . The site is primarily aimed at German and English speaking visitors.
The predecessor of the page was movie2k.to , which has not been available since the end of May 2013. After the site was taken offline, various new websites were put online at similar web addresses and proclaimed to be the official successors of Movie2k.to. At that time Movie2k.to was one of the twenty most visited websites in Germany. According to Alexa , the site ranks 708 in Germany (May 2019) .
history
Movie4k.to was founded in 2013 by Kastriot and Kreshnik Selimi, as well as Avid O., who operated under the pseudonym Pedro , who are considered to be the originators of Kinox.to and other relevant websites. As later became known, they are said to have found clues to the identity of the authors in a hacker attack on Movie2k.to and passed this on to the Society for Prosecution of Copyright Infringements . After the Movie2K.to site was closed, the brothers were replicated in order to secure a dominant position for their Internet sites .
In January 2013 the house of the two brothers in Pansdorf near Lübeck was searched because the two were suspected of running the Rom-Freaks.net site . In the course of this house search, encrypted data carriers and a handgun were seized. The forensic analysis of these data carriers revealed that the brothers were the operators of Movie4k.to, Kinox.to and other sites. In October 2014 there was another deployment of the officers, but the two brothers are said to have left in July.
In November 2015 the hackers Avid O. and a hacker named "Eddie" were arrested in Düsseldorf and Neuss, respectively. Avid O. was sentenced to 3 years and 4 months in prison in December 2015. In September 2017, 3 years after the start of the search, Kreshnik S. was arrested in Pristina .
Movie4K.to is currently still online, but can only be reached to a limited extent due to DNS blocks .
On November 18, 2019, it was announced that the owners had been arrested, and the site has since been secured and blocked.
concept
Movie4k.to is a video platform for German and English language films, TV series and pornographic films . According to the company, there are links to over 85,000 films on the site. The site is subdivided into the sections “Films”, “TV Series” and “ XXX Films”. These are in turn subdivided into “latest updates” and “recommended films”, with films the current cinema films are also highlighted. A search for titles was also offered.
According to the FAQ , films were neither saved on their own servers by Movie4k.to nor uploaded elsewhere; the site worked like a search engine that finds films on other websites and then embeds them either directly as an inline frame (embed code) or as external links.
Legal position
In an interview with Welt Online , a suspected operator of Movie2k.to claimed not to operate from Germany, as there is fear of civil law suits by the rights holders. In addition, no data is stored in order to preserve the anonymity of the visitors on the Internet . One considers the offer of Movie2k.to to be legal, since only references to other websites are offered, on which the films are deposited. Film companies and the Society for the Prosecution of Copyright Infringements, on the other hand, consider Movie2k's online offering to be illegal and describe the website as an “illegal streaming portal ”.

Austria
At the end of July 2017, the Austrian Anti-Piracy Association (VAP) asked the network operators UPC Austria , A1 Telekom Austria , Tele2 and Drei to set up an access block for various portals, including Movie4k.to. This is made possible by a decision of the Supreme Court which provides that Internet service providers can be charged with blocking access in the event of copyright infringements. The suspension was probably triggered by copyright infringements in films made by Allegro Film , Wega Film and Epo-Film .
