The Crystal Mozart is a river cruise ship on the Danube with home port Valletta (Malta) and is operated by Crystal River Cruises .

history

The ship was built in 1987 as Mozart under construction number 774 at the Deggendorf shipyard for the First Danube Steamship Company . Until 1993 it sailed under the Austrian flag with its home port Vienna . In 1993 the shipping company Peter Deilmann bought the Mozart . The flag was changed to Germany with the home port Passau . After Deilmann's bankruptcy, Premicon took over Mozart in December 2009 . The ship was extensively modernized in 2010 and flagged to Malta.

After TUI as charterer in the 2011 season under the name TUI Mozart , Dertour chartered the ship for an initial three years from the start of the 2012 season. Dertour uses the ship as DERTOUR Mozart . From 1989 to 2009 the Mozart was marketed by Dertour . Mozart's sailing area is the eastern Danube from Passau.

On November 2, 2015, Crystal River Cruises announced that it had bought the ship in order to use it on the Danube under the name Crystal Mozart from July 13, 2016 after an extensive renovation by the R&M Group in Ennshafen . Crystal Mozart was baptized in Vienna on July 11, 2016 .

Equipment and technology

The ship had 100 cabins for a total of 207 guests. After the renovation in 2016, the Crystal Mozart only has 78 larger and more luxurious cabins for 160 passengers.

drive

The two six-cylinder in-line diesel engines of the type SBV 6M628 from Deutz each provide an output of 1,185 kW. A Reintjes WAV 1830 is arranged in each drive train as a reduction gear between the main engines and the two 5-blade fixed propellers with a diameter of 1.7 meters . This enables a maximum speed of 23.5 km / h.

The on-board power supply is provided by three Caterpillar three-phase units, each with an output of 500 kVA.

particularities

The design of the semi-catamaran chosen by Mozart is unusual for a river cruise ship . At the time of construction, it was one of the largest inland cruise ships in the world.
