Mugur Isărescu
Mugur Isărescu (also Constantin Mugurel Isărescu ; born August 1, 1949 in Drăgăşani ) is a Romanian economist, politician and governor of the Romanian National Bank . From December 22, 1999 to November 28, 2000 he was Prime Minister of Romania .
Life
The son of Constantin Isărescu, a professor of mathematics, and Satina Isărescu studied economics at the Bucharest Business Academy until 1971 . In 1989 he received his doctorate in his subject. After the Romanian Revolution , Isărescu worked from March to August 1990 as a secretary in the Romanian Embassy in the United States . In September 1990 he became Governor of the National Bank of Romania and nine years later Romanian Prime Minister. He held this office from December 16, 1999 to December 22, 2000. The governing coalition had lost the election a month earlier. Then Isărescu again took over the office of governor of the Romanian National Bank. In addition, he has been a professor at the Bucharest Business Academy since 2005 and a member of the Romanian Academy , the Club of Rome and the Trilateral Commission . Isărescu is married and has two children.

Mugur Isărescu received various awards. He has been awarded several honorary doctorates and the star of Romania .
