Location of the Muljanka

The Muljanka ( Russian Мулянка ), also known as the "Upper Muljanka", is a 52 km long left tributary of the Kama in the European part of Russia . It flows through Perm and the surrounding Perm region . The proximity of the city industry has a major impact on river ecology.

geography

The length of the Muljanka is 52 km, the area of its river system is 460.7 km². The origin of Muljanka is near the city of Perm.

The village of Verkhniye Mully ( Ве́рхние Муллы́ ), one of the oldest historical settlements in the fringes of modern Perm, lies on the banks of the Milyanka. It has been part of the Perm urban area since 1958.

Then the Mulyanka flows along the edge of the Chernyayevsky Forest and crosses the Perm districts of Industrialny and Dzerzhinsky. In the Dzerzhinsky district it is spanned by three bridges. The new, 248-meter-long bridge with a 7.4-meter-long carriageway on Stroitelei Street was largely completed in 2006.

Shipping

Mulyanka is not included in the list of navigable rivers of the Perm region, which consists of the Kama , Wischera , Sylva and Chusovaya .

history

G. W. de Gennin

Unlike most rivers in the Perm region, the names of the Upper and Lower Muljanka came from the Persian word "Molla". Researchers of the history of the Perm region link it to Tatar prince Mametkul , who was an imam in the region before or during the reign of Ivan IV . His older son, Urak-bey Mametkulov, lived on the Upper Muljanka and the younger son, Irak-bej Sjundjuk-bej Mametkulow, lived on the Lower Muljanka. This is how the names of these rivers and the villages of Verkhniy Mully and Nizhniy Mully are said to have originated. Older pre- Turkic names for these rivers were lost.

In 1722 , manager Georg Wilhelm de Gennin and master Zimmerman took samples of the copper ore from the banks of the Muljanka. The test results confirmed de Gennin's intention to begin building the copper smelter that formed the basis of the city of Perm.

ecology

The Muljanka runs along the city limits of Perm and is polluted by industrial waste, such as those of the stock-growing farms and sawmills. The Muljanka is influenced by the adjoining oil refinery of JSC "LUKOIL-Permnefteorgsintez" , which was put into operation in 1958.
