The Municipio Santa Rosa del Sara is a district in the Santa Cruz Department in the lowlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
The municipality of Santa Rosa is one of three counties ( Bolivian : Municipios ) in the province of Sara . It borders the province of Ichilo to the west, the municipality of Portachuelo to the south , and the province of Obispo Santistevan to the northeast . It extends about 55 kilometers in a north-south and 45 kilometers in an east-west direction.
The central place of the municipality is the city of Santa Rosa del Sara with 5,238 inhabitants ( 2012 census ) in the very south of the municipality.
geography
The municipality of Santa Rosa is located east of the Bolivian Cordillera Oriental on the western edge of the Bolivian lowlands. The climate of the region is the completely humid climate of the subtropics with a balanced temperature profile in the course of the year and also only slight fluctuations in the course of the day. The region was completely covered by rainforest before colonization , but is now increasingly being developed as cultivated land .

The population density of the municipality at the census of 2012 was 6.0 inhabitants / km², the proportion of the urban population was 28.6 percent. The life expectancy of newborns in 2001 was 63.7 years, the infant mortality had increased from 4.7 percent ( 1992 ) to 6.4 percent ( 2001 ).
The literacy rate among those over 6 years of age has risen from 76.5 percent ( 1992 ) to 86.7 percent ( 2001 ). 94.9 percent of the population speak Spanish , 28.6 percent speak Quechua , 0.9 percent Guaraní , and 0.4 percent Aymara .
