The Municipio Santa Rosa del Sara is a district in the Santa Cruz Department in the lowlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The municipality of Santa Rosa is one of three counties ( Bolivian : Municipios ) in the province of Sara . It borders the province of Ichilo to the west, the municipality of Portachuelo to the south , and the province of Obispo Santistevan to the northeast . It extends about 55 kilometers in a north-south and 45 kilometers in an east-west direction.

The central place of the municipality is the city of Santa Rosa del Sara with 5,238 inhabitants ( 2012 census ) in the very south of the municipality.

The municipality of Santa Rosa is located east of the Bolivian Cordillera Oriental on the western edge of the Bolivian lowlands.
