The Municipio Vitichi is a district in the Department of Potosí in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The Municipio Vitichi is one of two Municipios in the Nor Chichas Province . It borders in the north with the province of José María Linares , in the west and south with the municipality Cotagaita , and in the east with the department Chuquisaca . It extends over 45 kilometers in an east-west direction and over 80 kilometers in a north-south direction.

The municipality comprises a total of 132 localities, the central place of the district is Vitichi with 394 inhabitants, the largest village is Yawisla with 1,023 inhabitants. ( 2012 census )

The municipality of Vitichi is located in the southern part of the barren plateau of the Bolivian Altiplano .

The climate is cool and dry because of the inland location and is characterized by a typical daytime climate, in which the temperature fluctuations between day and night are usually significantly greater than the seasonal fluctuations. The annual average temperature is 13 ° C and fluctuates only slightly between 10 ° C in June / July and a good 15 ° C from November to March (see Vitichi climate diagram).
