The Munot is the youngest ship of the Swiss Shipping Company Untersee und Rhein (URh) , with home port Schaffhausen .
history
The old Munot from 1936 was no longer able to cope with the volume of traffic on the Untersee and Rhine. The Swiss shipping company Untersee und Rhein therefore decided to replace the ship with a new one. The Munot was sold in 1997 to the travel company Jan Hofstra in the Netherlands. The ship was transported to its new home port of Drachten in an elaborate transfer . From there it was used for excursions across Europe. From 2013 it was offered for sale again, in 2017 it became the property of SRF Shipbuilding in Harlingen .
The maiden voyage of the new Munot , which was built in the Bodan shipyard , took place on June 28, 1998.
Naming
The ship is named after the Munot fortress , which towers over the old town and the Schaffhausen shipyard .
Technical details
The Munot is similar in dimensions to the Arenenberg . However, it differs significantly from the other three large URh ships due to the rounded bow deck, the sleek wheelhouse and the striking bulbous bow .
In order to ensure passage under the Rhine bridge Diessenhofen – Gailingen even during floods , the roof of the wheelhouse and the sun roof can be lowered , as is the case with all URh ships except for the Konstanz .
The ship offers a total of 335 passengers, 104 of which are in the hall. 94 outside seats are covered and 137 uncovered.
