The Murcielagos Island Protected Landscape / Seascape is located in the province of Zamboanga del Norte , in the Sulu Sea , in the Philippines . It was established on and around Murcielagos Island by Presidential Decree No. 281 on April 23, 2000. The island belongs to the administrative area of the city of Labason . The Murcielagos Island Protected Landscape / Seascape is a combined nature reserve and marine reserve . It covers an area of 100 hectares and a surrounding buffer zone of 151 hectares . The island can be reached by boat from the fishing port in Labason. Murcielagos Island is an important resting place and wintering area for migratory birds in the region.
