The Pasonanca Natural Park is located in the province of Zamboanga del Sur on the island of Mindanao , in the Philippines . It was established by Presidential Decree No. 132 on July 5, 1999 in the area of Zamboanga City Township . The nature reserve covers an area of ​​12,107 hectares and a surrounding buffer zone with 5,307 hectares. The area can be reached via the Maharlika Highway .

The topography of the nature reserve is described as rugged mountainous land, which covers an altitude range of 200 to 1,000 meters. There are 20 springs in the area that feed the Tumaga River and are an important source of drinking water for Zamboanga. The soil texture changes from sandy soils, loamy soils to clays, which are reddish in color and 12 to 28 cm thick and have a low pH value .

The area is classified as climate type IV, with a dry season from December to March. During the other months, heavy rains can come down. The coldest months are December and January with a daily average temperature of 30 ° C, the warmest month is March with a daily average temperature of 32 ° C.

In this area lies the most important rainforest area in the province, which comprises approx. 79% of the nature reserve.
