The site was planned in 1878 by Sabin S. Murdock , a manager and landowner. In the same year a post office was set up, which was maintained by the owner of the general store, which was also located there, on behalf of the government. In January 1881 the place was incorporated for the first time. Murdock was finally incorporated in 1898.
