Great Linden Music Corps

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The music corps of the volunteer fire brigade Großen-Linden e. V. is a marching and show band with brass instruments from Linden in Hessen . The formation achieved a double victory in 1974 at the World Music Concours in Kerkrade (Netherlands) and in 2005 the 7th place (gold medal with distinction).

history

The music corps of the volunteer fire brigade Großen-Linden e. V. was founded in 1953 by members of the Großen-Linden fire department as a fanfare procession . In the early days, there were small appearances in the vicinity at singing, gymnastics, fire brigade and home festivals.

In 1958 sheet metal bass instruments were added and the notation was changed, which contributed to a better musical representation of the ensemble. In 1962 the fanfare train was converted for the second time. The range was expanded through the purchase of hunting horns , helicon basses and sousaphones , and the fanfare procession became the fanfare corps. After regional successes, the fanfare corps first took part in the Wereld Muziek Concours (WMC) in Kerkrade in 1962 . There they won a gold medal in the marching competition in 1962, 1966 and 1970.

In 1971 they switched to valve instruments and rehearsed a music show for the first time. At the WMC Kerkrade 1974, the music corps won a gold medal with the highest rating of all participants in both march and show competition. In 1975 the music corps was switched to brass band .

With a new generation of musicians, the music corps won a gold medal with distinction in the marching competition at the WMC in Kerkrade in 2005 and won the audience award. At the national level, top prizes were won at the national games of the German Fire Brigade Association in Münster 1970, Hanover 1980 and Friedrichshafen 1990, where the music corps emerged as the national winner.

organization

The club is divided into three formations: the music corps , the youth music corps and the 74er .

Music corps

The music corps is a marching and show band with around 50 musicians. It represents the entire association through appearances at home and abroad and participation in competitions. The musical repertoire includes concert music as well as light music from the fields of film music , military music , rock , pop , musicals and Latin American rhythms . The music is complemented by a field show. Similar to a marching band or a drum and bugle corps based on the American model, a choreography is presented on a place to the music . The 2008 Field Show is 12 minutes long and titled Torches in the Storm . It is a medley of well-known movie melodies . In addition to the traditional blue fire brigade uniform with a peaked cap , the music corps also wears a gala uniform in white with a red beret . A colorful clown costume is worn at carnival time (e.g. the Mainz Rose Monday procession ).

Youth Music Corps

The youth music corps is the youth department of the music corps with approx. 35 musicians between 10 and 20 years of age. This department introduces the young musicians to the level of the music corps through musical training and marching training. The youth music corps wears white shirts with gold cords with black trousers and a red beret .

74 world champion formation

The "74 World Champion Formation" of the Grossen-Linden Music Corps formed an independent group within the club in the anniversary year 2003. The group consists of the winners of the 1974 WMC. They maintain the well-known traditional melodies and appear in the traditional fire brigade uniform in blue with a peaked cap.
