The Muskegon River is a 339 km long river in the US state of Michigan . It drains an area of 7091 km². The mean discharge at the USGS 04121970 gauge near Croton is 57.9 m³ / s.
course
The Muskegon River rises in Houghton Lake , a 8,112-hectare lake at an altitude of 347 m , centrally located in the northern part of the Lower Peninsula ( Lower Peninsula of Michigan ) located. In the upper reaches the river flows in a south-westerly direction past Evart . At the small town of Big Rapids , he turns south. On the middle course there are three dams that are used to generate electricity: Rogers Dam , Hardy Dam and Croton Dam .
