The Mutzenberg is 769.6 m above sea level. NHN high mountain of the Thuringian Slate Mountains in the district of Sonneberg , Thuringia ( Germany ).
It is located northeast of Lichte and southeast of the Leibis-Lichte dam in the Thuringian Forest Nature Park .
The Mutzenberg is built from slate from the deep Silurian . The key fossil is Phycodes circinatum , an Ichnofossil . The Mutzenberg phycode slate has a high iron content.
