The Northern Keltma ( Russian Се́верная Ке́льтма (Severnaya Keltma)) is a left tributary of the Wytschegda in the Komi Republic in northwestern Russia .
The Northern Keltma has its origin on the northern Russian ridge in the extreme south of the Komi Republic near the border with the Perm region . The river flows to the northwest and flows into the Wytschegda after 155 km at the Kerchomja settlement. The river flows through a swampy landscape.
The river drains an area of 7960 km². The most important tributaries are Okos , Wotsch , Wol , Prupt from the left and Jel from the right. The Northern Keltma freezes in early November and remains ice-covered until early May.
A waterway to the southern Keltma and the river system of the Volga used to exist via the Katharinenkanal (built 1785–1822, only 16 years in operation) .
