NGC 6716 is an open cluster of Trumpler type IV1p in the constellation Sagittarius on the ecliptic . It has an apparent magnitude of +7.50 mag and an angular diameter of 7 ' . The cluster is around 2,600 light years from the solar system and is estimated to be around 100 million years old.
The object was discovered on July 14, 1830 by John Herschel .
