action

Like every year, Günther Rittberg spends the summer holidays with his family at the North Sea. But this time the mood in the family is very tense, because the oldest daughter Annette would have preferred to spend her vacation with her boyfriend. A heated argument ensues between father and daughter, which ends with Annette running away from home.

At the same time, a group of environmentalists made a disturbing discovery: the unusually warm summer in the Arctic threatened to break off a giant glacier, which would result in a gigantic tidal wave. This would then u. a. also hit the German coast. But because most experts are of the opinion that such a scenario could only occur in a few decades, the German government is no longer taking the warnings of the environmentalists seriously. The Rittberg family does not believe in any danger either. Only when the glacier actually breaks off and a huge tidal wave is rolling towards the North Sea does the government react and initiate the immediate evacuation of the entire coastal region. But the evacuation comes too late: the tidal wave hits the North Sea coast, devastates the port cities and claims countless victims. Only father Günther and the youngest son Benjamin survive of the Rittberg family, who were separated from each other by the chaos that resulted from the evacuation.
