Nadia Cortassa (born January 5, 1978 in Turin ) is a former Italian triathlete , multiple national champion and Olympian (2004).
Career
In 1996 she won the gold medal at the European Youth Championships in modern pentathlon (pistol shooting, epee fencing, swimming, show jumping and cross-country running).
As a result, she switched to triathlon. In 2003 Nadia Cortassa was runner-up in the European triathlon championship (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running). In 2005 and 2006 she was third at the European Championships.
2004 Summer Olympics
In 2004 she qualified for a starting place at the Olympic Games, and in 2004 she finished fifth as the best Italian.
In 2006 she won the team world championships in Cancun in the triathlon for Italy together with Daniela Chmet and Beatrice Lanza .
In May 2008, after 2003, she was again Vice-European Triathlon Champion. In 2008 she qualified again, but could not start at the Summer Olympics in Beijing in August due to an injury .
In January 2004 she married her trainer, the triathlete Andrea Gabba and they live with their son in Turin .
At the Duathlon World Championship 2011 she started in Team Italy I with Daniela Chmet , Alessio Picco and Daniel Hofer ; the team took fifth place. Nadia Cortassa has not appeared internationally since 2011.
