Nadja Mchantaf is a German opera and concert singer ( soprano ).

Life

Nadja Mchantaf completed 10 years of dance training, where she emerged as a North German master, and after graduating from high school, began her vocal studies at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig . Today she combines both dance and opera singing in her role interpretations.

During her studies, she made guest appearances at the Leipzig Opera , the Gewandhaus in Leipzig and at the Leipzig Bach Festival . Immediately after graduating in 2009, she began her engagement in the young ensemble of the Semperoper in Dresden and sang the title role in the Dresden world premiere of Hans Werner Henze's music theater piece Gisela! Nadja Mchantaf then became a permanent member of the soloist ensemble of the Semperoper Dresden and could be heard there as Pamina Die Zauberflöte , Musetta La Bohème , Micaëla Carmen , Servilia La clemenza di Tito , Gretel Hansel and Gretel , Princess Eudoxie La Juive , Ännchen Der Freischütz , Valencienne Die merry widow , Lucilla Il tutore, Lidotschka Moscow, Cheryomushki and Morgana Alcina . In the premiere of L'elisir d'amore under Riccardo Frizza she sang the Adina and under Christian Thielemann the 5th maid Elektra . This production was released on CD by Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft.

In the 2016/17 season Nadja Mchantaf moved to the Komische Oper Berlin and made her debut as Tamiri in Mozart's Il re pastore . She was then hired by Massenet for the title role of Cendrillon , with which she recently celebrated a great success under the direction of Damiano Michieletto and the musical direction of GMD Henrik Nánási . She also sang the title role in the acclaimed production by Barrie Kosky under the direction of Jordan de Souza in Claude Debussy's Pelléas et Mélisande . Nadja Mchantaf made her debut as Mimi in Giacomo Puccini's La Bohème in January 2019 , again under Jordan de Souza and directed by Barrie Kosky. This production is available as a live stream [1].

Other roles at the KOB so far have been Tatjana in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin , the title role in Dvořák's Rusalka , Erinice in Rameau's Zoroastre, Micaëla in Bizet's Carmen and the child in L'enfant et les sortilèges . She has recently interpreted the song cycle Shéhérazade by Maurice Ravel and Donna Anna in Mozart's Don Giovanni under the direction of Ainārs Rubiķis .

Guest performances have also taken her to the Staatstheater Stuttgart , the Graz Opera House , the Frankfurt Opera , the Teatro La Fenice in Venice and the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma , where she performed Hanna Glawari in 2019 in the Teatro Constanzi and in 2020 in the Circus Maximus The merry widow interpreted. Nadja Mchantaf sang with the Berliner Symphoniker , with the Hamburger Symphoniker , with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra as well as at the Beijing Music Festival and with the Orquestra Gulbenkian under the direction of Frédéric Chaslin .
