Nagelsberg is a court in the southeast of the Bergisch city ​​of Remscheid in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Location and description

Nagelsberg is located in the statistical district of Engelsburg in the Lennep district on a low ridge between the valleys of the Lenneper Bach and Feldbach to the east of the larger Hasenberg district . The Feldbach is dammed at the level of Nagelsberg in the Lenneper Bach pre- dam of the Wuppertal dam.

Other neighboring residential places and Hofschaften are Upper and Lower Feldbach , Müller Hill , Schneppendahl , Kleebach , Jacob Mill , on the Hardt and through wood . Due to the construction of the Wuppertalsperre , the watermill , Spaniermühle , Nagelsbergermühle , Nagelsberger district , Wilhelmsmühle and Felbeckerhammer were lost .

The new route of the federal road 229 runs north of Nagelsberg , which also had to be relocated due to the construction of the dam.

In 1815/16 there were 29 people living in the village. In 1832 Nagelsberg was part of the Altbergische Landgemeinde Fünfzehnhöfe , which now belonged to the mayor's office of Wermelskirchen . According to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , the place called Ackerhof had three houses, a factory or mill and two agricultural buildings at that time. At that time there were 20 residents in the village, all of whom were Protestant.

In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province , five houses with 79 inhabitants are given for the year 1885. At that time the place belonged to the mayor's office of Fünfzehnhöfe within the Lennep district . In 1895 the place had five houses with 71 inhabitants, in 1905 seven houses and 51 inhabitants.

In 1886 the Lennep - Krebsöge section of the Wuppertal Railway was opened north of Nagelsberg , and in 1889, the Krebsöge - Radevormwald section to the east was opened past the town. In 1906 the mayor's office was incorporated into the town of Lennep with Nagelsberg, which in turn was incorporated into Remscheid in 1929.
